Sales Engineer

Our client is a manufacturer of capital goods sold around the world in 23 different countries. Located on North side of Dayton, Ohio, they have over 100 years in business and are experiencing the biggest growth period in their history. Due to a pending retirement, we are looking for qualified candidates to bring on board and learn a certain segment of their business. The company manufacturers machinery according to the customer requirements. The manufacturing of this machinery is in a job shop environment. The primary use of this machinery is to separate liquid from solids.
Ideal candidates will have a BS Chemical Engineering and knowledge of synthetic rubber. An alternative to the aforementioned Chemical Engineering degree is a BS Mechanical Engineering degree with at least 5 years of selling large capital equipment. This position requires some international travel that could reach up to 3 weeks at a time but should not exceed 3 months out of the year.
The Sales Engineer will be calling on engineering companies and end users (engineers and purchasing agents) marketing machinery, systems and services. Experience with synthetic rubber is important but no longer critical!
This Sales Engineer will prepare cost estimates and proposals based on the requirements of the customer. They will also negotiate terms of the purchase contract for equipment including terms of the sale. The Sales Engineer will also assist in preparing sales and service contracts for products or services and communicate the sales order requirements to the Sales Manager.
The Sales Engineer will insure that all orders and other customer communications are promptly and accurately handled to improve customer satisfaction. The Sales Engineer can also propose changes to equipment, processes or use of materials or services, which would result in cost reduction or improvement in operations. In addition, this person will check on market developments, industry trends and competitor activity and provide this information for input into sales strategic planning.
The Sales Engineer will provide technical services to customers relating to use, operation and maintenance of equipment along with assisting with start-up of machinery including technical training. Attending trade shows and representing the company at association meetings is another requirement of the Sales Engineer.
Compensation is based upon experience and knowledge of the Synthetic Rubber Industry and sales experience with Capital Goods.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
